That Las Vegas Car Insurance Deal of 3 Years Ago May Not Be your Best
Bet Today
By: Kade Phillips, contributing writer at kanetix.com.
A lot of folks in Las Vegas get their first car insurance through a referral
from a friend or family member. Perhaps you are one of them.
This referral is usually to an auto insurance firm serving the Las Vegas,
Nevada area, to which the referrer has been loyal to for years, but has likely
never processed a claim through the firm that is being referred. No problems,
hence a referral.
This fairly typical pattern is the reason why most drivers in Las Vegas are
probably paying too much for their auto insurance right now. Are you one
of them?
Very often, after deciding on the coverage and signing up with an insurance
provider, the typical driver pays their premiums regularly, and if there
are no snags or hiccups along the way,
the policy gets renewed at the
appropriate time, and is pretty much forgotten about, as all of the other
requirements of living take over the rest of their time.
Most people are uncomfortable with change, and rarely give their auto
insurance another thought, unless of course they’re involved in an accident
or are really in a pinch financially and actively going through their bills
looking for ways to cut expenses.
Many other folks are intimidated by a subject that they feel is “confusing”
and “overwhelming” and believe that it would be very difficult and time consuming
to switch auto insurance providers.
Best to just leave it alone they
tell themselves.
These types of scenarios and beliefs are some of the main reasons that scores
of people are
simply paying too much for this modern day necessity.
(Obviously, if you’re a lousy driver or simply had a run of bad luck regarding
your driving history, then that is the reason that you’re paying too much.)
But, many of the rest of us would likely be very surprised at the range of
quotes given for the same profile of driver and vehicle from a variety of
different car insurance providers.
Premiums can vary by hundreds and sometimes even thousands of dollars
from one auto insurance company to the next.
Unfortunately, most Las Vegas car owners and drivers are not well informed
about how the auto insurance marketplace works, and are unaware that every
company has different biases, preferences and often, different areas of specialization,
resulting from their proprietary data collected and analyzed through the
course of their business. They often have different preferences in clients,
and these preferences can and sometimes do change over time.
This is why the car insurance rate that you settled on with your present
company is very likely not the best deal that you can get for yourself. And
if you could use some “found money” right about now, your auto insurance
may be one of the best places to look.
Remarkably, the process of
switching auto insurance providers in Las
Vegas is not as daunting as it may seem, and with the savings that are possible,
it absolutely makes sense to shop around. Switching providers can often be
done the same day if you are organized and prepared, but even if you’re not
that organized, it’s fairly simple to do.
Make sure you
don’t allow any gaps in your coverage, and don’t allow your
policy to lapse without written confirmation from your current auto insurance
provider. (Read your policy or call them for details if you’re unsure.)
Your new provider will most likely be able to time the new policy to take
effect on the same day as the old one is terminated.
The time it takes nowadays to do some internet auto insurance comparison
shopping is truly remarkable, and the ability to get a wide variety of quotes
from many different providers, is truly worth it, considering that it only
takes a few minutes to see the results.
The whole process can often be completed at one of several websites that
specialize in such things, and the services are usually free to use. A good
example is kanetix.com, but there are several that do a good job.
Give it a try, you could enjoy your Las Vegas driving even more than you
already do, by lowering some of these mandatory automobile related costs.
