The city of Inglewood has an approximate population of 115,208 people and it is located southwest of downtown Los Angeles, in Los Angeles County, California. The city is known for being the fictional setting for the movie Pulp Fiction which came out in 1994.

Indigenous people may have been attracted to this area because of the natural springs found currently in Edward Vincent Jr. Park (formerly Centinela Park). A Spanish soldier, Jose Manuel Orchado Machado, was one of the first European settlers in the area in 1781. The first building was erected by Ignacio Avila in 1822 and consisted of a corral and hut for herders.

Inglewood was established in 1888 when the railroad arrived to the area. It was formed from the Centinela Ranch which consisted of 25,000 acres of land. During the period between 1920 and 1925, Inglewood was the fastest-growing community in America and was known for chinchilla farming. 1938 marked the arrival of the Hollywood Park Racetrack. The Forum which was built in 1967, used to be the home of the Los Angeles Sparks, the Los Angeles Kings, and the Los Angeles Lakers. All of these teams moved their operations in 1999 to Los Angeles' STAPLES Center.

The first Soft Serve ice cream chain in California, Fosters Freeze, was founded in Inglewood in 1946 by George Foster.
