Obesity Matters When it Comes to Health Insurance Premiums

The health care costs associated with treating conditions related to obesity tend to be high and costs seem to continue to rise every year.

To compensate for the risk of insuring those who will likely one day need medical attention over and above the norm, health insurance companies usually attach much higher premiums to policies where obesity is a factor. The higher cost often makes the policy un-affordable to many who need it the most.

Health insurers typically view those who are grossly overweight as a higher risk because the statistical likelihood of them developing serious health problems while insured are much higher than non overweight policyholders.

So, if you tend to overeat, and you’re struggling with your weight, your health insurance costs are yet another reason to find the motivation and the discipline to consistently eat better quality foods, exercise more and try to get this aspect of your life under control.

But, even if you are severely overweight, there is something you can do to increase your chances of finding lower cost health insurance coverage. Click on: Obesity and Health Insurance to read more.

Hybrids and Low Cost Car Insurance

As is increasingly obvious, hybrid vehicles continue to gain in popularity for all sorts of reasons. One of the less obvious ones may be the opportunity of obtaining low cost auto insurance.

As the fuel efficiency and quality of hybrid vehicles gets better and better, and they become more and more popular each year, various car insurance companies are seeking the benefits of being associated with two enormous trends that are really just getting started and likely to last for years and probably decades into the future - namely those of automobile fuel conservation and protecting the environment.

Some auto insurers have already discovered that offering low cost auto insurance (or lower cost insurance) for hybrid vehicles is an excellent public relations exercise, with lots of great free publicity an association with something meaningful. Consumers who are eager to avoid cars that needlessly burn fuel and spew out pollution, are also likely to be more inclined to want to do business with an auto insurance company who can demonstrate that they care about such things.

Travel Insurance for Americans visiting Canada:

Although the Canadian health care system is the envy of many U.S. citizens, make sure that you have adequate insurance before your next visit to Canada. If you are uninsured, or underinsured, and suffer a serious illness or injury while in Canada, it could end up costing you a bundle, especially with the dramatic rise in the Canadian dollar, which can make equivalent procedures actually more expensive in U.S. dollar terms than similar services in the U.S.

While it is entirely possible to spend a lifetime of vacations right here in the ‘good ol’ U.S. of A, and have a wonderful time exploring the incredible natural beauty and cultural diversity of this great nation, never venturing outside of our borders, many Americans do love to get away and explore other countries, other ways of life, and different perspectives.

One popular destination is our great neighbor to the north – Canada. Canada is a great place to visit because it’s very friendly to Americans, has an incredibly diverse range of possible destinations and activities, and it is first rate in terms of infrastructure, communications and safety.

If you’re considering a vacation or short trip to Canada, make sure that you have adequate travel insurance, because, your current policy may not cover the cost of a medical emergency if it occurs outside of the U.S. If you have no coverage, or inadequate coverage, an unfortunate accident or illness suffered while in Canada, could end up costing you a small fortune, in spite of Canada’s much lauded universal health care system. Also, with the dramatic strength of the Canadian dollar, typical U.S. insurance may not cover the increase in costs of medical attention when translated to U.S. dollars.

If you need some help with this, we’d like to recommend a travel insurance service that allows one to compare quotes from a variety of travel insurance providers that service Canada. Depending on your needs, comparing different travel insurance plans for visitors to Canada can be quite a money saver. There is no obligation, and the few minutes it takes can be well worth the effort.

Many Americans decide to study at some of Canada’s excellent educational facilities. Fortunately, insurance for students studying in Canada can be very affordable. Visit the following link if you’re a student in need of insurance while studying in Canada.

For those of you who think that you might like to visit Canada at some point in the future, for a vacation, to study, or perhaps even for an extended visit of a few months or more, make sure that you have adequate insurance before you do. Unfortunately, in spite of what you may think, Canada can be a lot less friendly when there are uninsured medical bills to pay.

The Amusing Side of Car Insurance

Car insurance is more interesting than you might think. Although the scenarios presented in this article are not very funny, the descriptions of incidents certainly can be amusing.

Ever wonder what it must be like to be a car insurance claims adjuster?

Probably not, because car insurance is not on most peoples list of fun topics to explore. But, insurers do run into some pretty funny stuff from time to time when going through the forms submitted by people making claims.

Some insurance claims forms have a limited amount of space, and describing the details of an incident in as few words as possible can have amusing consequences, as can incompetent and faulty writing.

While the gravity of some of the situations described below are by no means funny, the way they are written can certainly be classified as entertaining.

If you were a car insurance claims adjuster, and the following statements were in the claims you were reviewing, what would you think?

• The indirect cause of the accident was a little guy in a small car with a big mouth.
• The other car collided with mine without giving warning of its intentions.
• In my attempt to kill a fly, I drove into a telephone pole.
• I collided with a stationary truck coming the other way.
• I had been driving for 40 years when I feel asleep at the wheel and had an accident.
• I thought my window was down but I found out it was up when I put my head through it.
• A pedestrian hit me and went under my car.
• I was sure the old fellow would never make it to the other side of the road when I struck him.
• Coming home I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don’t have.
• The guy was all over the road. I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.
• I pulled away from the side of the road, glanced at my mother-in-law and headed over the embankment.
• I had been shopping for plants all day and was on my way home. As I reached an intersection, a hedge sprang up, obscuring my vision and I did not see the other car.
• I was on my way to the doctor with rear end trouble when my universal joint gave way causing me to have an accident.
• As I approached the intersection, a sign suddenly appeared in a place where no stop sign had ever appeared before. I was unable to stop in time to avoid the accident.
• To avoid hitting the bumper of the car in front, I struck the pedestrian.
• My car was legally parked as it backed into the other vehicle.
• An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my car and vanished.
• I told the police that I was not injured but on removing my hat, I found that I had a fractured skull.
• The pedestrian had no idea which direction to run so I ran over him.
• I saw a slow moving, sad faced old gentlemen as he bounced off the hood of my car.
• I was thrown from my car as it left the road. I was later found in a ditch by some stray cows.
• The telephone pole was approaching. I was attempting to swerve out of its way when it struck my front end.

The preceding are claimed to be actual statements found on insurance claims, however, to be fair, we were unable to verify the source. We found the statements to be amusing and plausible, but we would love to cite the original source on this, so if anyone knows who exactly is deserving of the credit, please let us know.

Actually, shopping for insurance can be fun, especially if the process is simple, easy, fast, and results in great savings for you. Kanetix recently redesigned our auto quoting service to make it more consumer friendly then ever before. If you’ve got a spare moment, check your car insurance rate to see if you are paying more than you should be.

Check Your Car Insurance Policy Carefully Before This Happens To You

If your car gets hit by a tree as seen in our featured video, will your car insurance policy cover the damages?

Analyst Jack Huntington says you never know what is going to hit your car so be prepared.  “Comprehensive is the part to look for.  Comprehenive covers damages caused by natural disasters like floods, storms, hail or wind. It also covers damages caused by theft or vandalism,” says Huntington.

Buy Life Insurance When others Depend on Your Earnings

If you were depending a someone like this for your earnings then you might want to rethink your situation.

In any case you should only buy life insurance yourself if other’s depend on your salary.  According to Jack Huntington, Analyst, “for a couple, I would recommend life insurance if they depend on each other’s income to make ends meet”.

According to the Journal Gazette, you might also get some life insurance for a stay-at-home parent, because if he or she were to pass away, the surviving spouse would likely face higher household expenses – to buy services that his or her spouse had been providing for “free” – and possibly reduced income if the person couldn’t work as much as he or she had in the past.

Insurance Fraud Bill Gaining Momentum

The message is everywhere in Pennsylvania on public service billboards and TV ads: Committing insurance fraud can mean jail time.

As reported by Ottaway News Service, house lawmakers are pushing new legislation to make tougher penalties for insurance fraud, including revoking driving privileges, and to expand the legal definition of what fraud is. A five-bill package was debated Tuesday at a joint hearing of the House Insurance and Judiciary Committees.

State officials told lawmakers that it’s difficult to gauge the scope of a practice that can range from individuals padding insurance claims, people “staging accidents” and organized enterprises engaged in medical bill ripoffs. Some 1,600 cases of suspected fraud were reported to law enforcement officials last year, according to state Insurance Department figures which show a steady increase in reports in recent years.

The Insurance Information Institute estimates that property insurance fraud cost insurers about nationally $30 billion in 2004.

“So obviously it is not a good idea to commit home insurance fraud but why not do the best you can to save money on your house insurance when it is so easy to do so online?” says Jack Huntington, Analyst.  To get free quotes on your house insurance just click here: house insurance quotes.

Obey the Rules, Wear Your Helmet and Make Sure You’re Properly Insured

"Obey the rules of the road” is one of the most important aspects of safely riding a motorcycle. The following video illustrates a number of “What-not-to-do’s”.

Two absolute “not-to-do’s” include not wearing a helmet and riding without motorcycle insurance.

As reported at Tallahassee.com, the Sheriff’s Office traffic unit in Tallahassee worries about motorcyclists who take risks.  About half the riders he sees violate basic safety and traffic laws, Barrow said. Violations include not wearing a helmet, not wearing eye protection which is required by law, speeding, weaving, not being a licensed driver and not having insurance.

According to Jack Huntington, Analyst, “It’s very important to find a good training facility which can teach you what you need to know before hitting the road.” The one part that we can really help you with says Jack, is the insurance.  Get a motorcycle insurance quote and see if you don’t get a great deal on your insurance at our Kanetix.com web site.  It’s free.  Just click here to get started: motorcycle insurance quote.
