Moreno Valley, California automobile insurance information

Moreno Valley has an estimated population of 155,105 people and it is located in Riverside County, California. The city is part of a new area that has been called the Inland Empire. The "Inland" part of the moniker comes from the fact that it is inland 37 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The stately "Empire" part of the name derives from the fact that the area comprises the oldest cities in the region: Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ontario. These cities became major agricultural centers producing an abundance of citrus crops, dairy products, and wine. The area started to prosper at the end of the 1800s but did not take on the name "Inland Empire" until the 1950s.

Moreno Valley itself was first a home to Shoshone Native American Peoples. Like many towns in California, the area's first European explorers were Spanish. Americans began to settle in the valley when California became a state in 1850. The area got its name from Frank E. Brown who's water company supplied the area with water ("moreno" is Spanish for "brown"). Most of the residents moved from Moreno when they lost their water to nearby Redlands. The city started to see activity again when the air force base March Field first brought business to the area in 1918. The base was expanded through WWI and WWII which helped Moreno to grow. After WWII, the area benefited from urban migration to the suburbs due to its proximity to Los Angeles. During the 1990s the area suffered from the recession and March Field was downsized as well. Finally, by the end of the 1990's, things started to turn around and some big companies moved into the area including Lowe's, Uhaul, and Aurora Modular.
