Cell Phones vs Life

While our cell phones, mostly all smart phones, have become such a huge part of our lives we forget the more important things like our own LIVES. I don't know how many times I have been driving and see someone on their cell phone texting, talking, social media, etc. and think to myself "they are brave." Yes, I am guilty of the occassional time check when running late, but my cell phone is not my primary concern while I am in the car. There is nothing that is more important than getting myself and passengers to where we need to go safely. I will say that it is nice to have while lost or incase of an emergency, but I also believe there is a time and a place. Pull over, figure out what you need to, answer the call or text that can't wait, and then get yourself back on the road. Too many put their lives at risk, which in turn puts MY life in danger. I believe cell phone usage should be illegal while driving. There is so much that can be prevented if people would put their focus back on the roads, and off the distractions. As of right now it is illegal to text and drive, BUT how much have we enforced this? I see it almost everyday and I am only in the car for 15 minutes going to work, imagine how much is done throughout the day. We need to crack down on this and keep spreading the awareness! Lives are more important than that text. I am pleased with the upgrades in new vehicles that allow you to talk via the car sterio, but lets face it, the while driving texting is the REAL issue. Drivers completely take their eyes off the road and their hands off the wheel. It seems so crazy to me, but I can't control the majority of population, so all I can do is beware of my surroundings and those driving around me.
